MIRA / OMRON
Omron Healthcare initiated the design of a new fitness tracker with the mission to inspire women to achieve their personal goals. Mira is a smart jewelry line that captures people's activity levels and fits into their daily life. Fitness trackers are tools and teachers to help us change our own behavior by establishing new habits and challenge old ones.

Everyone has varying metrics for success at different points in life. Mira has a customizable interface that reflects the data points chosen on the app.

Children grow by doing: taking their first steps, learning to sit properly, putting on clothes, using a spoon. However, sometimes children with different physical abilities take longer to acquire these skills or experience them differently. IKOU makes the world outside the home more accessible for the kids and their families so they can experience more moments of growth and joy.
We saw a significant drop in people’s ability to change their habits when the previous devices they wore weren’t flexible enough to accommodate for wearing preferences or styles throughout the day. Flexibility became a core value of our design. The tracker is small and light enough to be attached to a bra or clipped to a belt. The battery lasts for a week and synchronizes only when necessary.

Mira was subsequently created by a startup in New York and successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter in 2015. The team presented their new fitness experience at CES the same year and launched the product shortly after.
Mira came to life after women across the country brought honest anecdotes and humor to the product development process. They told us they have difficulty committing to an exercise regime, need motivation and want a device that is versatile so it can be worn at work, the gym or a night out.
